Job Description:
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. 800146; J2WRTP
A postdoctoral position is available with Dr. George Vasmatzis in the Biomarker Discovery (BMD) laboratory for an individual with a strong background in molecular/genome biology who has interest in cancer research. The BMD laboratory focuses on identification of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets in cancer. We a multidisciplinary research group, undertaking a number of collaborative projects related to different cancers. We utilize a variety of approaches including high throughput technologies (next generation sequencing, microarray), a number of different functional assays using cell and animal model systems.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in molecular biology or related field, two or more years of postdoctoral experience, be self-motivated and have background in genome or tumor biology. Significant experience in general molecular biology techniques including PCR applications, DNA sequencing, cell culture, subcloning is necessary. Basic bioinformatics skills will be a plus. Trouble shooting and problem solving skills are also required as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
