Job Description:
A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants.

Positions are available on the Mayo Clinic Nephrology Training Grant, funded by the National Institutes of Health. The objective of this 2-year program is to prepare biomedical and clinical scientists for independent investigative careers in academic nephrology and basic renal sciences. M.D. graduates who have commenced or have completed training in clinical nephrology and Ph.D. graduates can apply. Trainees will acquire an in-depth education in renal physiology and/or pathophysiology and skills in the appropriate basic or applied sciences. Clinical and bench research are both available. Faculty consist of 36 members of the Nephrology Research Unit and other allied Divisions and Departments at Mayo Clinic Rochester, including Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Physiology and Biophysics, Immunology, pharmacology, and Health Sciences Research. Individual faculty mentors are responsible for day-to-day supervision of the trainee, and development of an appropriate research project. The formalized didactic program includes the nephrology core lecture series, grand rounds, journal club, pathology and radiology conferences, as well as individualized conferences in the Departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Physiology and Biophysics, Immunology and Pharmacology. Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
