Position Summary: The Cardiovascular Imaging Laboratory at Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN seeks a post-doctoral fellow to join an energetic and collaborative program. The main project focuses on the use of adult stem cells for cardiovascular applications. We use state-of-the-art molecular imaging to understand the biology of transplanted stem cells and their interaction with different scaffolds. The successful candidate would have a Ph.D. in Bioengineering with interest in Physiology. Candidates with a M.D. and previous experience in Bioengineering will also be considered. The technical requirements for this position are first-hand experience with the techniques of cell culture and engineering experience in the design and testing of synthetic or organic scaffolds. Experience with animal models of cardiac diseases (e.g., myocardial infarction) is a plus. Responsibilities: The selected candidate will be primarily in charge of animal studies of a NIH funded grant. Responsibilities will include: performance of cell culture and animal procedures,(surgery, animal imaging), as well as data analysis and manuscript writing. Initially, research fellow will be supervised until independent. Involvement in other projects will be expected but will depend on performance.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Qualifications: Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.

Additional Qualifications: The successful candidate would have a Ph.D. in Bioengineering with interest in Physiology. Candidates with a M.D. and previous experience in Bioengineering will also be considered.
