The Registered Nurse is accountable for the coordination of Inpatient nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/ family education and discharge planning. This nurse provides professional nursing care across practice settings and the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. Where nursing care is provided, the nursing process of assessing, diagnosing, outcome identification, planning, implementing and evaluating is the basis for care delivered. The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs is required.
Classes begin in April of 2009, and the application deadline is December 1, 2008.
The Fellowship in Perioperative Nursing is designed to provide you the knowledge and skills necessary for a career in the operating room. The program includes high quality didactic and clinical experiences to develop a well-rounded perioperative registered nurse.
The didactic curriculum is Periop 101: A Core Curriculum from the Association of Peri-Operative Registered Nurses (AORN). Upon completion, you will receive a diploma and 24 college credits from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. With successful completion of the core curriculum and a passing score on the comprehensive final exam, students will be awarded 60 continuing education units from AORN.
Students will receive a stipend and benefits while enrolled in the program. Tuition is $500. Students are eligible for tuition reimbursement upon successful completion of the program and continued employment at Mayo Clinic. Qualifications: Current Arizona registered nurse licensure required; BSN preferred. Minimum 1+ years Registered Nurse experience required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate of completion preferred on hire or required within 30 days and maintains. Satisfactory completion of ECG competency within six months of hire and maintenance of competence annually. Works flexible hours that may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends and on-call. Adapts to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. Exhibits good communication and interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills preferred. Maintains ACLS and PALS as required by specific units. Maintains specialty certification per unit guidelines.

Salary: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $27.54 per hour. The internal pay scale is 37.
