Inpatient Endoscopy Technician (PRN) Job

Position Summary: This position is for an experienced Endoscopy Technician to work in the Hospital Endoscopy Department. The Endoscopy Technician will assist with GI and Pulmonary, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Responsibilities: The Endoscopy Technician assists with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or physicians in Endoscopy. The technician assists with assessment of patient needs and follows through with the designated plan of action. The technician is responsible for the care, handling, and processing of endoscopy procedural equipment and turnover of the procedure room(s). The technician is responsible for assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as ERCP, EUS/EBUS, GI bleeds, food bolus and foreign body removal, stenting of the esophagus, duodenum, colon, bile and pancreatic ducts in the Endoscopy Department and other areas of the hospital. The Inpatient/365 Endoscopy Technician works in the inpatient environment and/or a work area that operates 365 days per year. May have restricted on-call responsibilities outside of 'normal' work hours and may be cross-trained to work in multiple sites at the employer's discretion This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span, appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs, and be able to communicate data reflective of the patient's status.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Requires 1+ year(s) of GI experience.

Additional Qualifications: Internal applicants are required to attach their three most recent performance appraisals.

Inpatient Hospital Endoscopy experience preferred. Medical background and experience as a Medical Assistant or GI Technical Specialist (GTS) or Advanced GI Technical Specialist (AGTS) preferred. Member of SGNA preferred. Familiarity with the digestive tract and respiratory disease processes. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. Excellent communication skills. Minimal typing and basic computer skills.

License or Certification: Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $17.33 per hour.
Hours/Pay Period: Varies
Schedule Details: As needed, Monday- Friday.
Weekend Schedule: No weekends are required.
