Position Summary: Post-doctoral fellowships are available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Alan P. Fields to conduct NCI-funded research on protein kinase C isozyme function in cancer at the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center in Jacksonville, Florida. Our laboratory is studying PKC signaling pathways in human lung and ovarian cancer using a combination of clinical tumor specimens, genomic analysis, cell-based studies and novel genetically-engineered mouse models. Specific areas of interest include the identification and dissection of key PKC signaling mechanisms that drive lung and ovarian tumor initiation, maintenance and progression, and development of PKCi-directed therapeutic approaches to cancer treatment. Recent relevant publications include: Justilien et al, Cancer Cell 25:139, 2014; Ali et al, Cancer Cell 29:367, 2016; and Wang et al, Oncogene doi: 10.1038, 2016. Candidates with a recent Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and a strong research background in biochemistry, cancer biology, and/or molecular cell biology are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities: A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Qualifications: Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
