Position Summary:

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL seeks a Research Fellow (postdoctoral) for the Department of Cancer Basic Science to work in the areas of preclinical to clinical stage novel drug development, and investigating mechanisms of targeted-drug resistance in hematologic cancers (particularly Multiple Myeloma, Chronic lymphocytic leukemia and Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia). Notably, the principle investigators lab is focused on translational oncology with the goal of channeling benchside discoveries to the clinic in the form of novel therapeutics and diagnostics tests.

Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D in biological sciences with experience in cell and molecular biology and proteomic techniques. Prior experience (as demonstrated through a publication) in cell culture of hematopoietic cells and performing RNA-interference expeiments, i.e. siRNA, shRNA or CRISPR-based techniques, in hematologic cancer cells is mandatory. Experience with performing western blot, PCR and flow cytometry is preferred. Experience in handling small animals, performing tumor implantation and extraction is also preferred.

Responsibilities: A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic. 800146; J2WRTP

Qualifications: Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere. Additional Qualifications: Experience with performing western blot, PCR, and flow cytometry is preferred. Experience in handling small animals, performing tumor implantation and extraction is also preferred. Possess knowledge of hematologic, particularly B-cell malignancies.
