The Histotechnologist II will contribute to the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients by accurately processing surgical pathology specimens. Responsibilities include tissue processing, embedding and microtomy of all surgical tissues; cryotomy and frozen section staining; routine H&E and special staining; gross examination/tissue processing of surgical biopsies; equipment maintenance and record retention; training staff; and knowledge of pathology Laboratory Information System. The Histotechnologist will perform high volume automated immunohistochemical (IHC) staining; make up reagents, antibody dilutions; assist in IHC and special stain procedure development; record QA information; and train Histotech I's in IHC. Additional responsibilities include procuring control tissue material and monitoring control slide supplies as well as QC and validating slide quality and stain efficacy. The individual must demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills and have the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's age-specific needs. Effective communication skills and ability to multitask are essential.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Science from an accredited college/university in histology, biology or having emphasized anatomical, biological, and chemical sciences. 5 years histology laboratory experience within the last 10 years. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem solving skills. Demonstrated good judgement when dealing with a variety of procedural and technical issues. 3 years immunohistochemical staining experience within the last 10 years strongly preferred. HTL (ASCP) required.
