Data Proc Spec-Biostats-Limited Tenure Job

Description
Staff creates entry screen formats unique to each research project using SAS, FALCON, and SCL. They collaborate and provide consultation services in the design of data abstracts, estimating time and costs to accomplish actual entry of the data. Staff must prioritize and respond to changing work volumes and demands to meet strict deadlines under pressure. They must demonstrate the ability to work with details to analyze and solve problems in the interpretation of edits and codes for the majority of jobs. The data processing specialist independently determines the best system to efficiently process research information and enters alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from source documents into the computer, re-enters data in verification format, and makes corrections.(007802)
Department: Biomedical Statistics & Informatics /Health Science Research
Basic Qualifications: High school diploma and vocation training in computer skills plus 1 year computer-related experience required. Three years progressive work experience using database systems demonstrating excellent keyboarding skills may be substituted for formal training.
Other Qualifications: Programming experience in SAS, Falcon, or other database systems, and screen control languages. Knowledge of medical terminology is also beneficial. Familiar with database design and data abstract layout. High attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills. Ability to concentrate on the task at hand with a strong clerical perception for detecting errors. Proven ability to key data quickly and accurately is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation. Must be able to communicate effectively as a team member and respond to changing volumes and ambiguous situations.
