This is an in-hospital service which consists of primarily an obstetric practice with some gynecology. The CNM will provide antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum services. Expectant mothers are seen by the CNM in the OB clinic during their pregnancy and the postnatal period. The CNM works to be with the woman and her family once active labor is established, providing continuous support. The CNM also provides full-scope healthcare for established nurse midwife patients from adolescence through the post-menopausal years. Well-woman care includes gynecological care and management of common healthcare problems. The nurse midwives get to know each woman and her family and encourage the patient to be involved in establishing a plan of care to meet her needs. In addition to working closely with each woman, the CNM works with a variety of specialists, including social workers, nurses, dietitians, physical therapists, advanced practice providers, patient educators, residents, and physicians. The CNM works within 3 different models to provide care to OB patients -- integrated practice care (IPC) model, where patients are shared between the physicians and midwives; Centering Pregnancy model providing group prenatal care; and the traditional midwife only model. The nurse midwife will be expected to assist in the teaching of medical students, residents, and other health care professionals. On-call Labor and Delivery services are shared among the Nurse Midwifery team.<br/><br/>j2wjb<br/><br/><b>Basic Qualifications:</b><br/>Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and midwifery program approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM).<br/><br/><b>Other Qualifications:</b><br/>Preferred qualifications include: being an active member of the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM), experience in midwifery practice, labor and delivery experience, and demonstrated expertise in teaching.
