Job Description
The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) delivers gynecologic and obstetric services to essentially healthy, female patients. This is an in-hospital service which consists of primarily an obstetric practice with some gynecology. The CNM will provide antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum services. Expectant mothers are seen by the CNM in the OB clinic during their pregnancy and the postnatal period. The CNM works to be with the woman and her family once active labor is established, providing continuous support. The CNM also provides full-scope healthcare for established nurse midwife patients from adolescence through the post-menopausal years. Well-woman care includes gynecological care and management of common healthcare problems. The nurse midwives get to know each woman and her family and encourage the patient to be involved in establishing a plan of care to meet her needs. In addition to working closely with each woman, the CNM works with a variety of specialists, including social workers, nurses, dietitians, physical therapists, advanced practice providers, patient educators, residents, and physicians. The CNM works within 3 different models to provide care to OB patients -- integrated practice care (IPC) model, where patients are shared between the physicians and midwives; Centering Pregnancy model providing group prenatal care; and the traditional midwife only model. The nurse midwife will be expected to assist in the teaching of medical students, residents, and other health care professionals. On-call Labor and Delivery services are shared among the Nurse Midwifery team.

Basic Qualifications:
Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and midwifery program approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM).

Other Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include: being an active member of the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM), experience in midwifery practice, labor and delivery experience, and demonstrated expertise in teaching. Job Description
Understands all activities related to order entry and review of medication orders and displays proficiency in understanding how it relates to technological interfaces and generation of the patient medication administration record. Routinely assesses patient allergy profile prior to completing any order entry as evidenced by audits. Reviews the patient profile at the time of order entry to assess for therapeutic duplications, drug-drug, drug-laboratory and drug-food interactions. Reviews all new orders for appropriateness in medication selection, dose, route and dosing interval while considering patient age, weight, and organ function (e.g. renal and hepatic). Interprets medication orders (written and verbal) to ensure proper entry into the computer system to create clear and accurate records on the patient Medication Administration Record (MAR) as evidenced by lack of errors. Understands the technological interface between the computer system and floor based electronic dispensing units (Pyxis) to ensure order entry is complete and accurate. Oversees all the activities of pharmacy technicians, fosters an environment of mutual respect and contributes to efficient, safe, and timely operations of the central pharmacy distribution area. Supervises and directs the daily activities of pharmacy technicians as evidenced by co-signatures on necessary department documents. Facilitates the dispensing of medication orders by ensuring that items are accurately labeled and prepared according to departmental policies and federal/state guidelines as evidenced by lack of errors. Accurately performs necessary calculations prior to dispensing medications as evidenced by lack of errors. Weighs, measures and prepares pharmacy compounded medications according to department standards and utilizes appropriate tools, equipment, and techniques as evidenced by lack of errors. Supervises and directs pharmacy technicians to ensure proper procedures for IV admixture preparation according to department standards and USP 797 guidelines. Supervises the distribution of pharmaceuticals to ensure timely delivery to patient care areas. Collects, monitors and maintains all necessary medication use records and assists in maintaining the approved medication formulary in appropriate inventory levels. Coordinates monthly floor inspections with assigned pharmacy technician, ensures that the technician completes and documents inspections, and identifies and replaces outdated or unusable medications as evidenced by signature on necessary forms. Issues controlled substances and other medications to patient care areas and for outpatient prescriptions and maintains records as required by law, as evidenced by signature on necessary forms. Sustains the hospital formulary by minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing authorized medication substitution policies, and promoting rational drug therapy selection. Assists in maintaining acceptable level of inventory of medications and supplies under proper conditions of storage and security. Ensures safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapies for patients by monitoring drug levels and therapeutic drug regimens. Participates in detecting, reporting, documenting, and reviewing adverse drug events (ADE). Understands key principles in the detection of clinical intervention opportunities such as identifying sub-therapeutic or super-therapeutic responses to medications, under or over dosing of medications, allergic reactions, drug or dose modifications, and therapeutic appropriateness. Interprets laboratory and microbiology data and applies that data when reviewing medication profiles. Monitors drug therapy and makes appropriate recommendations for change to other healthcare practitioners or performs modifications if directed so by established clinical parameters, programs, or protocols. Knowledgeable in the interpretation of medical chart information for both electronic and paper records. Participates in drug use evaluations (DUE) as requested and collaborates on quality improvement projects as needed. Documents pharmaceutical care interventions conscientiously as part of the department documentation plan. Provides and obtains medication information to/from patients and their caregivers or families in a timely and professional manner. Counsels patients and their caregivers or families about medications and provides them with drug information as required by law or upon the request of either the patient/caregivers/family or other healthcare professionals. Understands and demonstrates the ability to adapt interactions and interventions to the patient's, caregiver's or family's specific age, educational level, and emotional level as evidenced by lack of complaints from patients and/or caregivers. Consults with patients and/or their caregivers or family to ensure accurate transcription of medication use (Medication Reconciliation). Encourages timely and safe patient care by responding to emergent situations calmly and efficiently. Responds quickly to Code Blue and other emergency situations and prepares and dispenses medications as needed. Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and the ability to tolerate high stress levels and frequent interruptions as demonstrated by lack of inappropriate behavior. Responds to NOW/STAT orders appropriately. Contributes to the interdisciplinary healthcare team as a proactive member of the group in providing patient centered, timely, equitable, efficient, safe, and effective healthcare. Actively participates with medical staff to monitor and review drug therapy, and to help solve medication-related problems. Provides clinical consultation, drug information, and medication clarification to other health care professionals upon request. Conducts interdisciplinary educational programs in the area of drug therapy for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals as evidenced in participation in journal club, case reviews, and presentations as asked. Utilizes appropriate software for reporting and reviewing safety events and contacts nurses and physicians in a timely manner to report any medication errors as appropriate. Consults directly with physician when necessary about their medication orders and necessary clarifications or modifications. Maintains a current level of professional competency and assumes personal responsibility for self development and ongoing education to maintain proficiency. Participates in the development and presentation of orientation, education, and training to pharmacy staff and students and serves as a role model and mentor. Utilizes mature and independent judgment, can be trusted to perform duties as promised without undo supervision, maintains excellent verbal and written communication skills, handles telephone calls in a courteous and timely manner, and demonstrates intolerance for inappropriate behavior and remarks made in the workplace. Successfully completes organizational training and departmental competency programs as assigned. Reviews literature and other materials pertinent to the practice of pharmacy and demonstrates the ability to interpret and process necessary medical literature.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience : A minimum of one year hospital pharmacy experience is preferred. Education: Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree preferred.

Other Qualifications:
Training: Registered Pharmacist (RPh) licensure in the state of Minnesota required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred. American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited residency or equivalent major healthcare experience preferred.

Job Description:
A Research Collaborator at Mayo Clinic is intended to facilitate research collaborations with individuals from other institutions. Appointments are mutually advantageous for the collaborator and the Mayo Clinic principal investigator. 800222; J2WRTP

Basic Qualifications:
Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program is strongly preferred. A bachelor’s degree is required. Appointee must have a primary affiliation with another institution. Must have previous scientific experience in a field for which the principal investigator wishes to gain or share expertise. Please attach the following required documents at the time of application:

1. Current curriculum vitae and bibliography
2. Three letters of recommendation, signed, on letterhead, describing:
• Relationship to the applicant.
• Past work/academic performance.
• Work qualities/personal conduct.
• Overall assessment of potential for success in research environment.
3. Letter from current employer/institution verifying your position and employment status.

Other Qualifications:
The appointment will be located in Research's Comparative Medicine. Veterinarian or a Veterinary student is preferred.
