The Scheduling Systems Unit, within the Mayo Integrated Clinical Systems (MICS) Division of Information Technology, oversees multiple systems that facilitate appointment making for our patients, doctors, facilities and calendars. These comprehensive systems, highly unique in the industry, account for preferences, prerequisites, and availabilities while they serve the appointment-making needs of thousands of users daily. The Scheduling Systems Unit is actively developing new software to replace our custom legacy scheduling system with an expanded system designed and developed internally with modern technologies. The environment will include Java, JSP, ColdFusion, C++, SQL, WebSphere, MQ Series, HL7 and other development technologies. This position requires active participation in this migration using software analysis, development, support, on-call, and problem-resolution skills. Department: Clinical Operations Section - IT

Basic Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional technical development experience; or an Associate's degree and 5 years professional technical development experience; or 9 years of professional technical development experience. At least 2 years of JAVA development experience.

Other Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. 1-3 years of Websphere (5.0 or newer) and 1-3 years of SQL in a client/server environment. We desire candidates with experience in JSP, RAD6 or RAD7, ColdFusion, DB2, Sybase, HL7 interfaces, MQ Series, AIX, C++, CVS or a similar source code control package, and Mercury Quality Center or a similar requirements/change tracking package. Experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project and Access are desired. Candidates demonstrating the ability to design, initiate and implement innovative solutions to solve a business need are preferred. They should have a proven ability to work independently as well as function as part of a cohesive team, have the ability to learn technology and process flows quickly, and show personal initiative in handling assigned tasks. Candidates must possess strong analytical, design and software development skills such as performing analysis of user needs, creating software designs, developing software solutions, and providing post implementation support in a corporate environment. Excellent interpersonal, customer service, verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Applicant must be willing to remain in the position for two years.
